I just got a new G580. I received the unit in a sealed box, untouched.
Starting it up at home it goes into what I'd call a 'command' screen where I am requested change the date and then time of the machine. Pressing enter it next goes to ' C: ' and will not accept anything such as 'run' or 'setup'. I've popped in the CD that came with it and restarted the unit but still the same ' C:' Obviously I need to tell the darn thing something to start the boot-up process, but this is a first for me.newbe. And no idea what.
(The shop is closed and I can only get hold of them tomorrow) Any suggestions. Any suggestions please? Hi Rock11,Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.
There are many variants of the G580 sold across the globe. Some of the systems do come with Windows as a perinstalled system. The question is which system did you purchase, the one with Windows preinstalled or DOS only?Based from what you explained in your post it appears that your system did not come with Windows Preinstalled and your system is running on DOS only. In this case you will require to purchase a Windows Operating system from your vendor or an IT store. If by chance you believe that you have paid for a system that should come with the preloaded windows system, you try confirming this to see if you have a COA sticker underneath the battery hatch. Just take out the battery and look around the hatch there should be COA sticker from micrsoft.
If there isn't Then I believe the system you purchased is definitly a DOS system and you will require to buy a Windows OS from the nearest IT store and manually install it your self. But it would best to consult your IT vendor in which you purchased the machine from first to confirm all the details. On another note the CD that came with the machine is either the Drivers CD or the Manual for your machine.Hope this explains it.Regards. Hi Tharun1204,Thanks for posting and welcome to the communtiy. Based from what you've explained here This does seem like you machine did not come with windows and you've purchased a DOS onnly machine configuration. Now lets run through some basics first to confirm.1) Does your machine have a windows sticker? On the back or by the battery hatch?2) The Cd that came with you Device what does it state? Could you send a screen shot?I believe the Cd you got may the same as the original poster. It is actually a CD for the drivers.3) Try confirming with the vendor you bought from.
Does your machine come with Windows? If yes, which version of the windows does your machine come with?I know this may not be the answer you're looking for but Let look at the possibilities first and I'll guide you for here.Regards.
